Our theme throughout Advent has been “Creating Light in the Wake of the Storm.” As we end the year and begin anew, let’s continue the theme, moving forward with the peace, faith, hope, and love that we have gathered in the last month. What do the light that breaks through the storm mean for us? How do we hold the revelation? How do we embrace the gift of Christ, the light that shines in the deepest darkness? Our scripture comes from Luke 2:8-20, the story of the Angels and the Shepherds.  The sermon title is “Light Breaking Through.”

The 4th Sunday of Advent—Christmas Eve—is upon us!

Our theme throughout Advent is “Creating Light in the Wake of the Storm.” And our fourth touchstone is LOVE.  How do we create light?  How does God call us to LOVE?  What does it mean to love in a world that has been and continues to be stormy, destructive, unjust?  Our scripture comes from Luke 1:26-56, the story of Mary and Mary’s Magnificat.  The sermon title is “Called To Be Mothers of God.”

Matthew 25:31-46

Again, this Sunday, we take our scripture from Matthew 25.  Throughout this chapter, Jesus describes the “kingdom of heaven” in metaphor and story.  The kingdom of God will be like this. . . .  What are the signs?  How will we know?  What shall we look for?  How does God speak into these questions for us today?
