Isaiah 35:1-10
I am delighted to share worship with you this Sunday—the first Sunday of Advent!  Our overall Advent theme is “Long-Expected Jesus”.  As we consider our theme—“from our fears and sins release us”—we turn to the prophet Isaiah.  Isaiah assures us, even in our fear and doubt, that God is forever with us, walking on this “Holy Way.”

November 20, 2016

This Sunday is Stewardship Sunday—when we are collecting our tithes and giving commitments for the next year; it is Thanksgiving Sunday—when we celebrate our many blessings by sharing a special holiday meal together; and it is our final Sunday before the Season of Advent begins!

Luke 20:20-26

This will be our last week in the book of Luke (for a while!).  It is the story of paying taxes—and giving to God what belongs to God. . . .  It picks up immediately where we left off last week.  The overall theme will be how we can stand up and be standing stones for one another as a matter of faith.

Luke 20:9-19

This coming Sunday, we return to the book of Luke, and our service will make room for the heavy and hard feelings many of us are carrying in response to the election.  The theme will be continuing the work for justice and continuing to care for all of God’s beloved ones.
