I look forward to sharing worship with you this Sunday.  It is Pentecost—the birthday of the Church!  Our focus on this Pentecost Sunday will be listening and paying attention to the movement of the Spirit—and how we are all part of the holy embodiment of that flowing, rushing, ever-present Holy Spirit.

We continue in the Easter Season this week, but we are one week away from Pentecost, as we focus more and more on the Spirit.  We are blessed to have Adam Bradley preaching this Sunday.  His scripture is 1 Corinthians 12:3b-13.  The varieties of gifts but the one Spirit.   Our focus is on interconnectivity, ecosystems, life, growth, and interdependence.

We continue in the Easter Season this week, but we are getting closer to Pentecost, as we focus more and more on the Spirit.  We have 2 scripture readings this week:  Numbers 11:24-30 and John 14:15-20.  Our theme is “what the Spirit—as advocate and helper—can do.”  What can the Spirit do in your experience?

We continue in the Easter Season this week.  Our reading is from John 14:1-14, one of the “I am” passages from Jesus.  Including “I am the way, and the truth, and the life.”  We will unpack this loaded verse in light of the love and life of Jesus.  It is also Mother’s Day, and while this is not going to be a primary focus of the service, I will use it as an opportunity to think about God and Wisdom as Mother—using the example of Julian of Norwich.

We continue in the Easter Season this week.  Our reading is from John 21:1-14, the story of Jesus’s appearance on the shore of the Sea of Tiberias as the disciples go fishing.  I will share some about how the Bible stories we read constantly call us to look all around us for miracles.  Even when we are tempted to continue on with “life as usual,” we are invited to taste the miraculous in our very midst.
