Genesis 28:10-19a

Our scripture this week continues our journey in Genesis—with the story of Jacob travelling to Padden-aram to his Uncle Laban (Rebekah’s brother) to take a wife.  Jacob has a dream of a ladder stretching up to heaven with angels ascending and descending upon it.  This story reminds us that the sacred finds us and meets us in unexpected places—regardless of our “merit.”  Jacob has stolen Esau’s birthright, and even so, God loves him and remains with him.

Genesis 24:1-15, 56-61

Our scripture this week continues our journey in Genesis—with the story of Rebekah, who becomes the wife of Isaac, Abraham’s son.  This Sunday is also the Sunday of our Church’s General Assembly.  We will consider the path forward—for the faith story of Abraham’s family, our faith stories, and the faith story of our Church.
